Eagle Nation

Earlier this semester I was accepted into the University of South Carolina to obtain a Masters Degree in Higher Education Student Affairs. After deciding to attend South Carolina I took a visit to campus for a few graduate assistantship interviews and this is what followed… nine out of the nine offices I interviewed with offered me a position, three positions were offered on the spot and the one I was seeking the most offered me a raise if I took their position.

Not only was I blown away by this tremendous recognition and extremely thankful for the options I was able to have; but I was also honestly in disbelief at the responses I received from professionals at such an esteemed university. When I asked mentors, advisors, and professionals why I given this amazing opportunity, the answer seemed to be the same, “Georgia Southern and the organizations you have been involved in have prepared you for the real world”. And when I think about it, this is so true.

When I think back to these past five years of my undergrad and I realize all of the things I have been able to accomplish, learn, and utterly enjoy, it makes me so incredibly proud to be a Georgia Southern Eagle. I have always been an involved, informed, and academically conscious student but I never thought that the things I loved doing the most, like interacting with others and meeting new people, would give me such an upper hand in the work force later in life. I am so glad that I was able to be a good representation of Georgia Southern University to others outside of Statesboro, but more importantly I am so thankful… Thankful for all of the people, faculty, staff, students and more, that have impacted me during my time at Georgia Southern.

It is such a bittersweet feeling to begin to close the door to this chapter of my life. Even though I am extremely anxious about my future, I know that I am better prepared for what is ahead because of this place I will cherish for all time. Georgia Southern University, I “pledge to you my loyalty and love forever more…”

Once an Eagle, always an Eagle… We are the Eagle Nation!
